Self-confessed ”city girl” Justine Clarke is about to take a road trip into the heart of Australian country music. She realises that while she knows a little Loretta Lynn, she never really connected with the Australian country music boom that saw it outsell American country here for decades. Time to find out: Justine is Going Country.

Crossing the inner city/ country divide, Justine begins a road trip adventure that finds our country music story opening up to her, as she connects with some of our greatest musicians performing some of Australia’s iconic songs. She’s about to learn that country was the punk of its time, how it cut through with its striking clothes, wild singing style and its own unique culture. But more than that, she will learn just how important country music was to Australians – and still is – and how these songs capture who we are as a people and a nation.

This is shaping up to be a joyous and heartfelt series, to be helmed by award-winning director Kriv Stenders (Slim and I, The Go-Betweens: Right Here) with writer-producer Paul Clarke (Bombora, Brilliant Creatures).
